Mauritius

Mauritius is a boy’s name of Latin origin, and is a variant of Maurice. Originally meaning “dark-skinned,” Mauritius is now more commonly associated with the island nation of the same name. The country was named in 1598 by a Dutch squadron, after the Dutch prince Maurice van Nassau. Known for its tropical climate and abundance of rare wildlife, this beautiful island makes a wonderful namesake for baby.
