Xanthippe

Xanthippe is a name for girls, meaning “golden,” “fair,” or “yellow horse.” Greek in origin, it gets its colorful meanings from a combination of the expressions xanthos for “blonde” and hippos for “horse." Xanthippe’s legacy doesn’t end with luscious locks, though, as it’s also known for the strong-willed wife of Socrates. In the early writings of Plato and Xenophon, Xanthippe is depicted as a rather fiery figure—but it was that argumentative spirit that swept Socrates off his feet.
